Education, Work & Leisure
We are lucky to have a wide range of activities available in the Broadstairs and the surrounding area.
Individuals are encouraged to pursue and develop their own interests with support as necessary. Currently we access the Garden Gate, Thanet College, Canterbury College, Skillnet, Hilderstone College, Thanet DOC, as well as some residents having paid employment in the town.
Additionally, we have a coffee shop which is open to the public at certain times of the year, and we are hoping to shortly start a local lunchtime delivery service to local businesses.
We also have a qualified teacher who comes and takes a couple of sessions a week with small groups, centring on their interests and what they would like to learn.
Evening and weekend activities
Evening and weekend activities include Gateway Club, Melting Pot, Social Club Archery, Evening Classes, Pottery, Cooking for Fun, Fitness and Weight Training, Pub Visits , Swimming, Walks and visits to local attractions such as Bird Parks, Theatre trips, Cinema, Funfairs, Football etc. Residents are encouraged through regular Residents Meetings to state what they would like to pursue.
Holidays & Breaks
We do 3 or 4 residentials a year also, and individuals chose their preferred options. This year we have 4 residentials - a mini cruise to Belgium France and Guernsey, a midweek break to Center Parcs, Elvedon, a 3 day trip to Euro Disney, and a midweek break to a Haven caravan park in Great Yarmouth! We subsidise the cost of these trips to make them affordable to residents. These holidays offer a valuable opportunity to consolidate other skills learnt through the year.
