As some people will know, in late 2000, we purchased the hotel next to us,and preparations are now well in hand to develop a coffee shop for work experience,as well as a computer suite, meeting rooms and another 6 bedrooms. Some of our residents may be able to live more independently in the future, and to this end,we will either buy or build a flat in town,so that we can provide the support needed to maximise their independence in the community. Meals are of a high standard prepared from fresh ingredients bought each day, giving a healthy but balanced diet. Individual tastes and special diets can be catered for. There is an additional kitchen on the top floor, which is used for snack making, and also as a teaching resource in the preparation of meals with all our residents. A fully equipped modern laundry takes care of all residents washing, and residents are positively encouraged to take part in the daily living routines of the house, such as shopping - cooking, gardening and a variety of leisure activities. Staff All of our staff are trained to work with learning disabilities and have plenty of experience in this field. Many are trained to NNEB level or equivalent, and all undertake courses such as the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Fire Safety training, Footcare and Chiropody, Health and Safety at Work and basic First Aid training, plus any others that may further their professional development whilst working with us. |
